Enrolment FAQ

Have a question about how to application and enrol at St Martin’s Catholic Primary School, Davidson? You’ll find all the information here and an application form on the Enrol page.

Do we have to be Catholic to enrol at St Martin’s?

We welcome families from all faiths as well as families with no religion.

Can I visit the school to see it “in action”?

Yes, we would love to show you our school! Tours with the Principal, Adrian Pulley, are by appointment. Email us directly to make a booking for a time that suits you.

We also hold two open days in March and June each year as well as a twilight tour every August. Find details about our Open Days on our website and on our Facebook page.

How long in advance do I need to apply for enrolment?

Applications are accepted throughout the year. There is a $66 application fee for Kindergarten enrolments.

For Year 1- 6, current vacancies may exist so email or call us to check.

Can my child change schools now and come to St Martin’s straight away?

Yes, if we have a place available in the grade your child requires. Contact the school office as soon as possible to discuss availability.

Does my child need to attend an interview?

Yes, each child enrolling in our school needs to attend an enrolment interview with the Principal, accompanied by at least one parent or guardian.

What can we expect in the interview?

An interview allows us to get to know potential families. For Kindergarten applications, a series of activities will be set to gauge how each child learns. We can then know how we can best accommodate each child and support them in their learning to give them a solid foundation for their education at St Martin’s.

Will there be an orientation day before my child starts at St Martin’s?

All children commencing at the beginning of the school year will be involved in transition programs. This will vary for children entering at different times of the year.

What is the enrolment process?

Complete an enrolment form, include all supporting documents and submit them to the school office with your $66 application fee. Enrolment forms are available here or from the school office. Documents needed along with the enrolment form include your child’s birth certificate, baptismal certificate (if you have one), immunisation records, and passport and visa if you are newly arrived in Australia.

For Year 1-6, your child’s two most recent school reports are requested as part of the application together with any specialist reports if applicable e.g. speech pathology, OT etc. New parents are then interviewed by the Principal and our Parish Priest before an enrolment is finalised.

My application has been accepted. What’s next?

If your application is successful, a letter of offer will be sent and transition sessions can be organised. If your child is in Years 1-6, a buddy family will be established to assist in welcoming the new family to the community.

Kindergarten students have buddies as well and the buddies will be with the incoming kindy students during their orientation sessions.

Medical Information and any Family Court Orders or parenting plans registered with the Family Court should also be made available at the time of enrolment.

What if my child has particular needs – is he or she still eligible for enrolment?

All families are interviewed before enrolment at St Martin’s to determine whether there are any additional learning or support needs to cater for. More information is available in our enrolment policy.

Do I have to pay school fees?

Yes, all Catholic schools require their families to contribute to the ongoing costs of maintaining a Parish Primary School. School fees are essential to supplement the Commonwealth and State grants for Catholic Education.

We are committed to making Catholic education accessible for your children, regardless of your financial circumstance. That’s why we aim to keep our fees as low as possible. School fees contribute to covering school operation costs, expenditure and maintenance.

We will never exclude a Catholic student from attending our school because of financial hardship. If you would like to organise a payment plan to make it easier to manage your school fees, please contact the Fee Liaison Unit at the Catholic Schools Office schoolfees@dbb.org.au or speak with the Principal. You can find specific fee information on our Enrolment page.
