Our play-based learning afternoon
According to Finnish educator Professor Pasi Sahlberg, children spend less time engaged in play than ever before. This has led to several concerning trends, mainly around wellbeing and healthy development. To counteract these issues, we have created a ‘Brand New Day’ for students. We believe that providing an extra afternoon where students can play and engage in some structured and unstructured activities will help them to thrive. Brand New Day is held on Tuesdays and starts half-way through lunch. The session runs for an hour and gives students the opportunity to choose different activities each week that they are interested in. The activities are available for all students whether they are in Kindergarten, Year 6 and anywhere in between. This provides the opportunity for students to join like-minded peers in activities they enjoy.
